Just installed the AVN in my car and decided to keep the bose speakers in. Here is the issue, Whenever I add a normal amount of bass, the speakers distort like crazy. Does everyone have this issue or what did you do? I don't really want to go aftermarket nor add a sub.
Your help is appreciated.

The Bose speakers suck. They were not designed to be given a flat signal that you adjust to your liking. They were designed to be given a heavily equailzed signal (created within the external Bose amp) which you then moderately modify with the dinky treble/bass settings within the stock Clarion HU.

Hmmm. So you're using the preamp outs on your aftermarket HU to connect to the stock amp?
Figured out my problem. I turned down the gains on the line-converter. Added more bass and it sounds OK now.
Also, I'm making it even better by adding a W6 in the trunk

my insides still produce base and it sounds distorted also.. i have 2 w6v2's .. so it should be thumpin hard and clean in the inside but the BOSE speakers arent letting that happen.
I guess i have to replace the inside speakers to get the best sound

Do you have a line converter...if so, adjust the gains on it and remove the BASS from the bose speakers. Bass should only be going to the subs. I will let u know this weekend.Originally Posted by thebayg35

Worst case, I have Diamond Audio Components and Co-Ax laying right next to me
