What's the difference between mb quart QSD216 and the QM218.16Q? They're both Q series 6.5 mids and 1in. tweeters. I can't seem to find the difference besides the huge price gap.

 

The QSD216 are current models. The QM218.16Q are discontinued. I can not tell you if there is any difference in sound or construction.

Before you go and buy the AM speakers, i think you should know that there is a night and day difference between the two. As far as i can tell, they still make the QM series and i have owned both speakers in the past. The tweeter in the QM series is very harsh and hard to tune properly. The tweeter in the QSD is much more refined and sounds a lot less fatiging. The mids are also MUCH better in the QSD's. Crossovers are better in the QSD's too....They have absolutely no similarities as far as i can tell. They may look alike on paper, but they sound completely different to the ear...go with the QSD's and you will have some of the finest component speakers available. check out www.rainarc.com and look at rainbow audio comps too. The platinum series is much better than the QSD's and is a little more if you are comparing retail prices. The line below the platinums are excellent as well.
