Installed USA Spec PA11-NIS

Saturday I installed the usa spec unit in my car so that I can enjoy my brand new ipod. The unit works great! I will never have to load another CD again. It was a pain in the butt to get the HU crammed back in place. I have never seen so many wires.

I want to say thanks to "Real_G" and "bradakrez" for taking the time to post the great DIYs. I will post pics once I have the proclip mount installed. I have to wait for Proclip to manufacture a mount that will work with the 2nd generation nanos. I talked to them last week and they told me they were about 3-4 weeks away.

Anyway, if you are thinking about installing the usa spec unit, just do it.

EDIT: For pics, I couldn't wait for the nano Proclip so I just bought a video ipod.

I care. I care what firmware version do you have running on your Ipod Care to tell? My new Ipod video doesn't seem to work with the USA Spec.

My video (30 Gb) is running version 1.2. My nano is running version 1.1.1 (I believe) and both work fine with the USA Spec.

What are you running?

EDIT - spelling.

Thanks, I use Meguiar's NXT Tech Protectant for the dash and Quick Interior Detailer for the aluminum and control panels.

nicely done. I hooked mine up just fine and have the wire coming out of the empty NAV box. I need the ProClip next I would think.
Where did you get the ProClip and I imagine that was the easy part to install?

Thank you. Yeah, the proclip took all of about 30 seconds to install. Here is the website:

Very nice setup! Im interested in doing the same setup but was uncertain about a few things.

1. Where did you buy the USA Spec PA11-NIS and how much did it cost?
2. Can the USA Spec PA11-NIS be installed on a non-Bose system?
3. Do you lose use of the Cd changer?

1. Crutchfield.com and it was about $140.
2. I am pretty sure I read there were no problems with the non-Bose but I can't say for sure. If you search you should be able to find your answer.
3. No, all the original functions of the HU are unaffected by the USA Spec. The CD changer works exactly the same as before. The only thing you can't do is have satellite radio and this unit. The USA Spec uses the satellite radio port in the back of the HU.

Just got mine installed a couple of days ago too. But something funky happened. It didn't work with my iPod (3rd gen) so I had to get a newer version (sigh). Now with the nano it works out perfect cuz the plug comes out of the center console so I just put the nano in there and control the functions with the stereo. I guess mine is connected in a different way cuz I can't see what's playing in my screen. When I plug mine in the iPod reads "nissan"and "Ok to disconect." And the only way to switch songs is with the stereo controls, iPod controls are disabled

There is a dipswitch on the USA Spec that you have to flip if you want it to operate the way mine does. I believe the way you have it is in the "On" position and the way I have it is in the "Off" position.

A friend of mine runs a car audio shop, and they told me to stay away from USA Spec products....

Anyone know why?

If I do that, how the #($* will I integrate my iPOd into my G?

I have no idea why they would say that. the USA Spec works great in my car. I actually will be upgrading to a DD unit so I will be selling mine and my ProClip in the coming months. But it may take a while as I am still collecting my parts.
