im hooking up my subs, 2 jl 10w3s, to a 500/1, what do you guys suggest i do, 2 channel stereo, or 1 channel mono. the box is sealed and i listen to all types of music.

Do you have a choice? if you are using a JL Audio 500/1 it has only 1(mono) output. It does have what appears to be 2 outputs, but it should say mono output only on it. Do you have 2 500/1's?

even if you had a 2ch amp...you might as well run the subs as one channel since they are producing bass and do not need a stereo signal. Assuming you have dual 4 ohm coils, you should be able to get a 4ohm load when wired in series and that will work out well. In any case, wire them together and connect them to the amp..you'll be fine.

are u running at 2 ohm? If you can, you should. Also the amp should be able to run at 2 ohms with no problem.

Not necessarily. One of the advantages of the smart power supply of the JL amps is that they produce constant ouput throughout their operating impedance. While a 2ohm load would produce slightly more power, the amp will produce substantially more heat. As with most electronics, heat is bad. The biggest factor for which impedance to present the JL Amp is the impedance of the woofers you own. The 10W3 series is offered in dual 2, dual 4, and dual 6 ohm impedances. Most of all, have fun and listen loud, G style.
