Help, I'm going nuts !

I know the crappy Bose sound system has been discussed before.
But I feel that if not the lack of treble, this system otherwise, would have been a pretty good one.
When playing CDs, the sound is ok (I can live with that), but when switching to plain FM radio, the sound is way too
vague, clogged and lacks a LOT of treble.
I tried to play around with the settings (not that there are many of them), and see if I can somehow make this thing sound
somewhat better.
I should mention that even my OEM (non premium) sound system in my previous 2000 Maxima sounded much better.
Is there anything that can be done? maybe adjusting the fader or something like that?
I've already tried to play with the SCV setting by setting it to "high", but I didn't notice any difference in sound....
I guess I could have been less pissed if this was just a plain system. But it just annoys me that I paid for something that sounds like the cheapest crap that Infiniti could have put there and have named it "Premium sound".
Help please......

Re: Help, I'm going nuts !

The "premium sound system" in the G is by standards better than most other domestic system on the market, but yes I agree its by far not a great system. The stock system in my 99 Denali is also made by Bose, and I must say it very good! With all around highs, mids and lows (thanks to a sub in the center console), it sounds quite nice for a stock out of the box system. In my opnion the G's system is simply under powered.

To fix this problem, some here have added an additional set of tweets and an amp to bring out the missing high end. I myself have purchased an Infinity Basslink 10" sub to throw in the trunk for a little more low end, and I'm gonna custom install a set of Boston Accoustic tweets I had from an old set of components, to the front. To power the tweets, I'm gonna purchase a small amp just to balance it all out.

Re: Help, I'm going nuts !

About 2 or 3 months ago I saw a post on a 350Z forum that indicated that Nissan and Bose had just reached an agreement to do something ( I don't know what) about the poor sound of the 350Z's bose system.
Has anyone heard of this or know what they are fixing?
Is the Z sound situation the same as the G's? If so, we should get the same deal (assuming there is a deal)!

Re: Help, I'm going nuts !

The Bose problem in the Z is not an issue with the G35. There is actually a TSB for early model Z's to correct the problem with the amp.

The G35 Bose system has some weird problem for me where it's causing listening fatigue. It's getting to be like finger nails on a chalk board.

The SCV is speed sensitive volume control. Put in on high, drive around, and you'll notice a big difference. It sounds decent at speed, but when you stop, it's annoying as hell what happens to the sound. I set mine on 'mid' as a compromise.

I'm going to swap out everything but the HU before long.

The thread should have been posted in the audio forum.. like the sticky thread at the top says 'please post in the correct forum'...

Re: Help, I'm going nuts !

I cannot describe how much this BOSE system annoys me.

Next week I plan on pulling out the remainder of my BOSE system (I already replaced the door speakers with Alpine SPX 177a's, and added a Basslink).

I'm putting in a Soundstream Rubicon 4ch amp, Focal Polyglass for the doors, moving the current door speakers into the rear armrests, and adding an active EQ. The only thing left will be the HU which I plan on keeping.

I agree that the BOSE system is underpowered, but also the quality of the drivers used is horrible. And to not give us a way (as the Audi A6 Bose system has) to make EQ adjustments is a travesty.

I like my stock (non premium) stereo system, just enough bass and tremble.

"tremble", I believe this is what you would do if you ever heard a decent
after market system in the G35 :-)
