New Speakers w/ stock amp/headunit

Can i add new speakers to the stock amp/headunit. My car is leased and i cant deal with the bose speakers. If i do do this will they sound better than the bose. Any suggestions of brands or types of speakers. Has anyone done this!?

You can try but most of the Bose systems have crossover points set in the amp(s) so new speakers won't sound much better. IMO it's worth a shot, the oem Bose sounds like crap.

check the sticky under the AV thread - it has all the info. i'm about to do this same thing to my car, but I think in the long run I will be replacing the amp because of the funky x-over points and eq that comes out of the amp to compensate for the crappy bose speakers-
