one more simple little install for you guys :)

jsut gone done with another IS350, not as fancy as the one i did before, just a clean and neat little one

goals:

1. great sound quality while maintaining stock HU
2. relatively stealthy look but maintaining full access to the spare tire

The front stage is a pair of DLS ultimate UR36i 3 way components, the 6.5" midbass is sealed in the door via a pair of enclosure cups, and the mid and tweet are in custom built suede trimmed kick panels. the doors are also dampened

annoying to do but the rear deck stock subwoofer was removed to get better bass into the cab in

the DLS remote bass control module resides int he stock astray location

moving on the trunk, here is the normal view, as you can see, nothing fancy, just a fake wall carpeted

pop out the center grille, unlatch and pull out the bottom though, a 10w6 and a DLS reference RA50 5 channel amp show through red suede just to give a bit of uniqueness to the install

and here you see the spare tire is fully accessible

and one more behind the scene picture of the HUGE amounts of wiring behind the amp rack, tied up neatly and bundled so the drawer would slide in and out without a problem

overall, sounds quite good with the stock headunit, and in the IS, the front stage yields an extremely solid center image and dash high stage

Nice. Does amp drawer need to be open for cooling?
Please tell us about these enclosure cups - would G35 coupe need them? Thanks

sorry, last pic wasnt showing, there are two push pull fans on the back of the amp rack

i used the cups a lot of times on Gs with 3 way set ups helps a lot with midbass response

Are they durable enough for the careless people that would kick those speakers?

yup i have built well over 100 pairs, never had one destroyed, ever you cant kick through solid fiberglass, and the sepaker and tweetr grilles are metal and hard plastic.

the only way you can destroy kicks is if you take a screw driver and deliberately jab into the speakres very hard

That looks really nice.

What are the cups made out of?

Are there 2 speakers in the door and 2 in the kicks so 4 speakers on each front side?

nice

wow the trunk on the IS is very clean and still has lots of space. How did you manage that. i know in our Gs a W7 takes up like half the trunk, but then again is it beacuse we have smaller trunks to wrk with.

no its a 3 way upfront, one in the door, the stock midrange is NOT hooked up

Not a fan of the kicks, they just look too out of place.

Trunk came out very nice!

Do you have any pics the kick pannels mounted in a sedan? (Would it look the same as the coupe?)

3 way kicks in a G, regardless of sedan or coupe, would look MUCH more recessed than in the IS350, keep in mind the IS does NOT have a plastic stock kick piece, and has the emergency brake there so the kick panel has to be where it is

anyway, here is hwat 3 way kicks in a G pretty much looks like:
