Alarm Question re window roll up and down

I'm pricing alarms right now, looking for something w/ remote start and windows up/down. Some shops have sd that only alarm I will be able to get w/ remote start, is the Clifford Solaris G5....the others they would not install. Asked about adding the smart windows feat to open and close windows via remote...Was told by couple of shops that it couldnt be done on this car. Is this true. Some shops have sd it can be done. Does anyone have this feature wired up on their car alarm. Live in the Northern NJ area. Thanks for any help w/ this question.

I live in Northern NJ. I have a 6MT. I have a remote starter! And my windows roll up with the new alarm!

Metro Auto Alarm in Elizabeth, NJ. They are right on Route 1. (908) 353-0707 I'm pretty sure that's their number. Tell them the guy with the KNIGHT RIDER light sent ya!

I am getting the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 installed next week, so they better be able to do it. I have opted not to get the window roll up feature right now, because it is $150 more, and I am already dropping $600. I had Tweeter special-order it for me. I'm excited, it sounds like a great alarm!

Re: Alarm Question re window roll up and down

I just got that exact same alarm khsonic03. Its awesome!! I elected not to get the remote start feature installed because my car is 6sp (although it can be done). Dont let the alarm shop charge you $150 for the windows feature. My installer did it for $40! He only charged me for two relays that was needed to interface with the stock wiring. The whole install was $440... wouldve been $540 with remote start.

Re: Alarm Question re window roll up and down

Automatically roll up at arming would require a relay with a timer built in. I think the Clifford alarm gives you many different programmable outputs that would allow you to do this. The key reason this should be a no brainer add-on is that the G35 has a feature where when you lock the doors and hold the key, the windows roll up and the same when you unlock and hold. The simplest way to add this to an aftermarket alarm would be to wire one of the aux channels to this locking mechanism so that when you press and hold the lock button, it simulates the key being turned and held. To have it done automatically, you would need a timed relay and have it adjusted at a set time for all the windows to reach the close position. Not too hard...just time consuming looking for the right wires in the driver door.

About the windows rolling up when you press and hold the lock button on the keyfob, I've tried it on my car and it doesn't work. Windows roll down when I press and hold the unlock button on the keyfob. I don't think you can roll up the window through the keyfob. I have an 04 6 m/t coupe, I'm I missing this feature?

No, our vehicles don't do this, however, if you put the key in the door and turn it to lock and hold it, the windows will roll up.

Re: Alarm Question re window roll up and down

Actually, the shop has to go into the driver's door to tap the lock/unlock wires anyway, so all they need to do to add rollup/rolldown is tie a timer wire into the exisiting connection. Takes 30 seconds.

Re: Alarm Question re window roll up and down

When I was looking to have the alarm installed, some places wanted me to buy a window roll-up module which costs $150. The total cost of the alarm with the windows wouldve been $800 at some shops. It pays to ask questions and find a knowledgeable installer. Ask the installer questions, not the salesperson.

Re: Alarm Question re window roll up and down

So, do you need one of those relays per window? The reason I ask is because you said he charged you for two and you have a coupe. I have a sedan, and was wondering if I still only need two, or four? From what I understand, all of the doors go through the driver's side controls, so maybe I only need one for the driver's window , and one to control the other three windows. If not, then I would be paying for four ($80), still kind of a lot for that feature.

Re: Alarm Question re window roll up and down

If the alarm has two timer circuits on board, you DO NOT need any extra parts. No relays, no modules. I absolutely assure you...
