Sub Q: JL 10w3v3+250/1 or 10w6v2+500/1?

Just wanted to get some input from everyone before I placed my order. I've got a 4080 box already, Im just trying to decide on the sub/amp combo. I'm going to go with JL audio equipment. I mainly listen to rap and some rock here and there. Im just looking for a little extra bass to add to the music. Im pretty much set on the 10w3 but I dont want to get it and wish I had more.

What would you do?

JL 10W3V3 with a JL 250/1 Amp

-or-

JL 10W6V2 with a JL 500/1 Amp

Also, should I use e-dead or dynamat on the trunk to help prevent rattles and such?

Thank you in advance and happy holidays

Dynamat Extreme shud do the trick, i personally would go for the 2 10" v3's in a small car i dont like a lot of thump, i prefer a nice clean rumble imo. good luck!

Looks like the 10W6 and 500/1 combo is winning so far. I might just order the w6 and use a bass **** to adjust it from the inside. I'll give the thread another day or so before I do anything and see what others have to say. Thanks, keep em coming

i have the 10w6 with a 500/1 amp and i love it. Really adds to the sound and makes the music sound so much better. I used some e-dead on the trunk to solve my rattleing issues.

W6 with 500/1 sounded just about right. Besides dynamat on the trunk? pay lil attention to the area around/behind your license plate.

I have 10W6 sating around just waiting for my next car(whatever it might be) .

I just installed a 10w6 and 500/1 today. Sounds pretty good. I don't have my rear 6.5s in yet so I don't want to give a thumbs up or down yet. The sub hits but not crazy hard. You'll be wanting more if you go w3 with 250/1.

Seems like everyone is encouraging me to get the W6. I just think it will over-power the stock Bose speakers and be too much but maybe Im wrong. Ill see where this goes tomorrow. Thanks again

After you add the sub you'll end up wanting to replace your stock speakers later, regardless of which one you pick.

I've run both of those combos in the 12" version (12W3v2 with 250/1 and 12W6v2 with 500/1). The W6 500/1 combo costs considerably more but was well worth it IMO. For the deadener, I'd recommend RAAMmat. It's a quality product and is quite a bit cheaper than Dynamat. IIRC, Rick McCallum (owner) is located down by you in SD. You might be able to check out the product before you buy.

You'd better check the fitment for the 10W6 and the 4080 enclosure. I'm running an IDMAX10 in the 4080 but had to use 1.5" worth of mdf spacers to accommodate that driver. It prevents use of the nice flush grille that is provided with the 4080.

I know others are using the 4080 with a W6. A member on here by the name of "dR6" did a DIY with a 4080, 10W6, and 500/1 amp. Ill have to PM him and ask him if he had any troubles and maybe call 4080. Thanks for the heads up Kurtis.

The only fitment issue is you have to turn the sub so the logo is at about 4 or 8 o'clock instead of 6.

That kinda sucks, all well. Ill compromise that minor drawback for some major bumpage. Thanks again everyone. I really appreciate all of the help and input
