Here's my Nuvi 360 setup. I borrowed a few of the ideas I saw from Mark and Jimmy (Thanks guys! ) and also brainstormed with one of my fellow geek engineers at work. He suggested plexiglass so here we go. The plexiglass piece came in an 8X10X0.85 piece from Lowe's for about $3. The plastic cutter cost another $3 so total expense was $6. I initially cut it to 7X5 but it was 1/2 inch too wide and about 1/3 inch too long so I cut it back. I haven't driven with it yet as I just made it yesterday but I've bumped the Nuvi around while it's mounted on there and it's very stable. It takes up almost no room (still have room for my sunglasses and more!) and it's not permanent on the car. Next I'd like to use the hardwire method I saw jimmyc13 use but I want to put a switch inline so I can control the application of power. I like to make sure I run down the battery completely and then fully charge it.

Now I just need to figure out how to mount it to my Jeep. Since it's my beater Jeep I'll probably just stick the adhesive disk right on the dash.

Nice work..Over the weekend I finished hardwiring my Nuvi 660..Also changed
the mount a little so the suction cup mount fits into the cubby more easily..
I really like the Nuvi line..Great product..Look awesome..

Thanks for the direction and ideas guys! I was going to hardwire my Nuvi 660, but decided against it in order to retain quick and easy removal. I decided to install a cigarette lighter receptor inside the cubby hole. It turned out MUCH better than I even imagined. I'll be posting pictures later tonight once I figure out the best mount for it will be.

Did you just cut the plexi to fit and wedged it in or did you use glue or double sided tape to secure it in place?

How wide is the 2x4...6.5 inches? or is it 7 inches.....what else did you do to the piece of 2x4...in regards to trimming it to fit into the cubby? Thx

I did the same thing as the OP, but i dont need to remove mine in order for the door to shut fully. Everytime i wanna use it, i just open the cubby and its there. When i close it you wouldnt even know theres a GPS there. It turns on and off with the car too. I love it

Yea, I have the same setup as the OP as well. I have the Garmin 350 and i just velcro-ed it to the cuppy lid and closes perfectly. Every now and then I have to reapply some more velcro because the heat in the south gets HOTTTTTTTTT. lol. But I like it, its a clean setup.
