Re: anybody using a 10w7?
yup..im going to be using a pair of e10A elemental design subs...just got them today..
As for the 10w7..i would keep it sealed. If you go ported, i do suggest going with what jl states on their website...is there a particular reason you dont want to use their specs?

Re: anybody using a 10w7?
I prefer ported designs because of output. A ported design gets you and extra 3dB output, equivelant to doubling amplifier power or cone space(another sub). Another benefit of a ported design is that above the tuning frequency, the sub produces less distortion. Although, the difference may not be audible; subtle details are sometimes lost when reproducing bass frequencies. Of course, you cabinet will be larger than a sealed design. There are tredeoffs for everything. Email the tech staff at JL Audio with your ideas. They are a great bunch of guys and always willing to help, very busy though.

Re: anybody using a 10w7?
I have a 10w7 in my 325i in a ported box. my trunk is pretty much gone. i have about a foot between the front of the box and the front of the trunk. it does sound great though in a ported box. much better than sealed. rattles like a motherf*cker though. ha

what are the dimensions on that box in your beemer, i had a beemer and remember that their trunks are small to begin with, what about the port dimensions

Re: anybody using a 10w7?
yea..the 10w7 in a properly ported box is going to be pretty damn loud. I've actually never heard it in a ported box, but i can imagine it would be pretty impressive. Too bad our trunks are so small...You could mount the sub in the spare tire well and to a custom ported enclosure with the port being less obtrusive and still keeping some trunk space..just a thought..

Re: anybody using a 10w7?
yeah i bet a ported box will rock, the spare tire well idea is good but the sub is so deep, mounting depth is 10.5" so the box would be too deep, im just gonna have to make a box kinda molded into the trunk to make the box seem smaller.
