The iphone will not be a PDA replacement by any means. It looks like it will only run first-party software, meaning you won't be able to load anything beyond what it ships with.
Other things lacking:
No Removable battery
No 3G support
No expandable memory
No over-the-air itunes downloads or wifi syncing
It doesn't really do anything my 2 year old Windows Mobile phone doesn't do (in fact a whole lot less!), but Apple will probably succeed in making people think they need one.

If it runs off on OS X it should have applactions you can load to the Iphone. Proabably a strip down version so it wont take up too much space. I agree with you on the 3g and battery though that is such a turn off.

This is just the starter, just wait til it gets out there.
