Amp installation
I have the factory radio with 4 outputs going to a Kenwood KAC-744 which is then outputted to a JL Audio 250/1. I just purchased a JL Audio 300/4 to replace the Kenwood. The Kenwood has 4 inputs and 2 outputs. Do I have to go into the mono block first and then go into the 300/4? On JL's website they have diagrams for 2 and 6 channel outputs, not 4. What do I do? Use Y connectors? Only use 2 of the 4 outputs from the HU? Any suggestions or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Amp installation
I just recently called JL to ask them almost the same question. First of all, the 300/4 has no outputs. So you need to get the signal for both amps from the 4 outputs from the head unit. JL suggested that you use Y connectors on the two rear channels of the system to feed the sub amp.

Re: Amp installation
One more thing JL tech told me to do I forgot to mention....
When tapping off the rear channels of your four channel amp, you want to use the two negative poles to feed the sub. In other words, use the LR (-) to feed sub (+); and RR (-) to feed sub (-). One way to do this is to take an RCA plug and break out to center terminal. But for the sub-amp end, you're going to need to solder up your own RCA plug.
