Re: Link and Pricing - GROUP BUY
The "Ultra Bright Option" is the CCFL backlight upgrade, which both the TS and TSV LCDs now have.
The main diff is that the TSV has:
*Composite Video Input x 2 (700TSV)
*Audio Input / Built-in Speaker (700TSV)
*NTSC / PAL Multi-System capable (700TSV)

Re: GROUP BUY: Xenarc 7" VGA LCD Touchscreen
I've been looking into getting one of these for a while, but havent quite figured out a good way to mount it in a way that wont look too ghetto. The outer dimension of the xenarc is around 7.75" wide and the inner dimensions of the glove compartment of the center console is only 7" so it wont quite fit in there without some major modification and I cant imagine any other place to put it.
Does anyone know if something like this https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...sed&sb=5&part=
is possible with this screen? Anyone have any pictures / diagrams / explainations of how to install the xenarc in a g35 ideally in a way similar to how the stock nav is installed?

Re: Link and Pricing - GROUP BUY
Just confirmed with Xenarc that they will extend the group buy period until Dec 2nd, 2003 due to Holiday travel and turkeyitis.

Re: Link and Pricing - GROUP BUY
I ordered mine the day before Thanksgiving last week and it arrived today! I guess we're in the same state (CA) but WOW! That was quick, hehe. I've set it up with the HTPC for the moment since that system has a multimonitor capable video card. So far so good. Now I just have to search around and figure out how to force it's native resolution out of the video card (not that anything's bad, I'd just like to be able to).

I didn't need the extra features of the TSV, so I just ordered the TS. Thanks to Ted for getting this together!
Just a couple of notes while I was talking to them and placing my order:
Ultrabright option: This is an add on. This does not come with the unit. He said that the units now are significantly brighter than last years model. However, you could get the ultrabright option added on to the current model which will again make it brighter.
Warranty: It comes with an 18 month warranty if you leave it as is. If you take it apart, like me, you will only have a 30 day warranty. This kind of sucks since I don't have all the components to install it in my car. So the moment you get it, take it apart and see if it still works using a shoestring setup. So if the unit works fine out of the box at 17 months and only THEN do you decide to take it apart and it no longer works, you are screwed. You will have to pay for a repair.
Dead Pixels: As is the case with all LCDs you may run into a dead pixel. There is an industry standard regarding dead pixels. If its a 7" there is an allowable flaw of having one dead pixel. On a 12" there can be 3 dead pixels. If the xenarc has one dead pixel, you are pretty much screwed, unless you can sweet talk customer service. If it has two, then they will send you a replacement. I asked them if they could test the unit on site before they ship it to me and check to make sure there aren't any dead pixels. They said no dice because if the tech sees one dead pixel, he'll ship it anyway. Regardless, I requested them to check in the "special instructions" section. We'll see.
I believe he said 99.5% of units produced do not have any dead pixels. So it would suck if you are the two hundred customer. I guess you should pray for two dead pixels at that point.

Mad does this suck.. I got ONE dead pixel. I took it apart anyway since its not to noticeable unless it falls on a solid background. Taking it apart was fairly easy. It still worked when I was done! Kissed my warranty goodbye with that one screw removal.

Re: GROUP BUY: Xenarc 7" VGA LCD Touchscreen
man... I'm starting to wish I got in on this group buy... oh well. Must wait for some sale or something.
Anyways, got a question for anyone who bought one of these and received them. Is the touchscreen part actually USB? Cause I see on so many places (www.digitalww.com included) that say USB, but then show a pic of a R232 or whatever serial port, NOT USB.
Just curious if these "new" ones are USB... could help to differentiate the newer models vs the older ones. Which is important since according to the original post, the newer ones are much better quality.
Thanks
