I found the Kenwood DDX6019 refurbed for 500.

 

You don't need the bracket.

 

Don't forget the Nissan antenna adapter and also a Metra or Scosche wiring harness to make things easier. You using the stock amp??? Or using the amp in the Kenwood??

thanks guys crutchfield is charging 800. I think im gonna get the refurbed one and just buy the antenna adapter and wiring harness separtely. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being most difficult how hard would you think the install would be?

 

Do you currently have the Bose system? Are you going to run an amp or just the radio power? When are you going to upgrade the speakers?

Upgrading the speakers will make a bigger difference to your sound than the head unit.

I have the DDX7017 which I installed myself. It was a chore running 3 RCA's to the rear for the amp and running everything for the navi and Sirius. But just installing the head unit by itself shouldn't be too difficult with the wiring harness plugs.

 

yeah i was planning on changing my speakers before i even buy the head unit. Then Id buy the hu and later on Id buy an amp for the speakers. Or maybe the amp then the Hu. Not sure yet.

 

i was thinking about some infinity kappas and some infinity perfects. What's your setup if you don't mind me asking. I currently have
2 12 jlw3v2's from my old setup I just haven't made a box for them cause my other box was too big.

 

Do you have the Bose or non-Bose. That will make a difference.

I have the same head Kenwood HU and never uprgraded the speakers. I have non bose and running speakers from the HU. Are the infinity kappa's the right choice for me? Or would I need to get an amp.

 

You should go to some audio shops and listen to speakers and find the ones you like for your budget. Since you are not using the Bose amp (you don't have one) get 4 ohm speakers. People using the Bose amp should get 2 ohm speakers.

 

Thanks for the input Gilley. I've been searching and read alot about 4 and 2 ohm and don't really understand it. So if I plan on using the HU for power, 4ohm is the ticket? I'm just looking for a affordable simple upgrade.

 

The difference between 4-ohm and 2-ohm speakers is the impedence; impedence is measured in ohms. 2-ohm speakers are a smaller load for an amp to drive and therefore the amp can output more current to them and thus more power compared to 4-ohm speakers.

If you are using your new HU for amplification then you have to get 4-ohm speakers as your HU won't be able to drive 2-ohm speakers from what I can tell.

The factory Bose speakers are 2-ohm, you shouldn't connect these to your new HU unless it can drive 2-ohm speakers.

 

Thanks craycat...so I need to stick with 4ohm unless I wanna run an amp. If I want to upgrade to an amp later, will the 4 ohm speakers be ok?
