Question for all you wire gurus. . .

So I got 300 feet of this speaker wire for my home theater, but I only used about 100 feet. Would it be WAY overkill for me to use in my car? It's 16 gauge and nicely shielded. I'll use it on all my speakers (2 Kicker L5s, and 4 Boston SL60s + tweets).

Any reason why I wouldn't want to use it?

Thanks for any help!

Unless you are sending alot of power to your comps, I wouldn't bother with the trouble of running new wires

You can definitely use it wiring your crossovers if you don't replace your door wiring. I used my factory wiring for my doors but still used 50ft of aftermarket.

Thanks guys! I'll end up using it just because I can. . .and then it'll give me the freedom to upgrade again down the road. Out of curiousity, does it matter where I put the crossovers? I remember reading somewhere that the wires from the crossover to the speakers should be as short as possible, is this true? The boston crossovers are kinda big, and it would be easier to put them in the trunk rather than try to squeeze them in the door somewhere. Anyway, let me know what y'all think! Thanks!

I fit mine behind the puffed-out part of the door (below the arm rest) and I have Diamond crossovers which are enormous. If you trial and error-fit them, you should have no problems and it makes wiring easy becasue they are so close.

Distance doesn't matter if you use good wires. I also put mine in the doors. I had to trim some of the styrofoam (weaksauce). I just used some 3M double stick tape.

Sweet. . .out of curiosity, have any of you with the crossovers in the door had problems with them getting wet? I know it's sealed, but I don't want to take any chances in wetland here. . .(or when I wash my car for that matter.)

Thanks for all the help!
