04 Coupe Stock Bose Problem
04 Coupe Stock Bose Problem
What's up everybody. I just picked up a Twilight Blue G35 Coupe last night and I am loving the car. I came from three MR2 Turbo's. Man, I going to miss that car. Well, I still have one of them.
I have done a search and could only find posts about how the cd player skips in cold weather. It's about 15 degrees out in the Philly area. My question is, is it normal for the radio not to play at all until the inside of the car is warmed up.
For example, on my way to work this morning the radio was on but no sound was coming from the speakers. When it got warm in the car, sound came on all of a sudden. Should I take this to the dealer to be fixed (under warranty of course). I just want to know if other people have had this problem or if this is something I should have fixed right away.
Thanks for all you help in advance.

Unfortunately the stock radio HU is crap when it comes to breaking. When it works it's a decent unit... but it has a tendancy to crap out in ways just like this. Take it into the dealer and get it replaced under warranty. My recommendation, however, is if you are planning on keeping the car long term, mine as well start eyeballing double din conversions if you want to avoid future headaches of broken HUs.
I am planning on keeping the Bose system. So I guess that I will take it to the dealer to have it replaced. Is the Head Unit at fault or is there an external amp that needs to be kept warm. I thought I read somewhere that there is an external amp in the trunk. I could be wrong though. Could it be as simple as put a blanket over top the amp to help insulate it better.
