I am close to pulling the trigger on a double-din unit here....I'd be willing to spend about $700 on the alpine online but I wanted to know if it is worth the $200+ extra over similar looking in dash 6.5-7 inch screens made by JVC, Panasonic, Kenwood, etc. I have nice speakers and a nice amp so I don't want to sacrifice sound quality but if those cheaper units are good I'd love to save the money. Anybody have input that own any of these headunits? thanks

 

ALSO, I want to buy the kit that allows me to retain the steering wheel controls.....has anyone purchased this and is it straightforward? Do you also need bypass wiring so dvds can play while the car is rolling???? THank you

 

I just installed the Alpine DD today. Used the PAC unit to retain steering wheel controls and the PAC unit for video bypass. Both work fine as long as you can follow instructions.
