front tweeter location

I'm about ready to install my components, Polk SR6500 and was wondering what would be the best location for the tweeters. I was contemplating either stock sail pillars or use the coaxial mount and have them mounted with the mids in the doors. I really don't want to put them in the kicks because I know oneday they'll get kicked in. where is the best locaiton?

coaxial mounting would definetly get my vote. the sail panel location IMO is horrible, it will give you pains from screaming highs...

the point source method of mounting the tweet in the middle of hte mid is the way to go for sure

sould I mount the tweeter angled or straight in the mid? also for the crossover, since it's down low should I set it at +1 or flat?

Is the stock location a bad place to mount after market tweeters?

My Focal K2's sound great in the stock locations. They are not too bright at all.

again, SQ is according to personal preference, i think the k2p tweet is forward sounding already and really is a bit bright in the stock location...but hey why dont you give it a shot at different locations to see which one you like better?

thanks for the suggestion 16psibrick, mounted them coaxially and they sound good. I ended up setting the crossover to -2db and angled the tweeters towards the opposite side seat. made the install easier too since I didn't have to deal with mounting the tweeters in the pods.

^1, me too. I wanted to stay completely stealth with my Diamonds. And surprisingly, the highs aren't overly dominating. It is all personal preference though.

nope, didn't try mounting in stock locations...it was a matter of time. maybe next week I'll try sticking them up in the sail pods to see how it sounds to compare.

I installed the tweeters up in the stock location and it actually sounds better. it brought up the stage, and has a more spacious sound. The SR tweeters are the best I've heard, it's so smooth no harshness even at high levels. One thing I did like about the coaxial mounting was that the sound was completly seemless, couldn't tell where the drivers were but the sound did tend to be dragged downwards. With the tweeters up high it sounds more like it's coming from in front of you. The install was a bit involved as the SR tweets are larger then the stock. I actually ended up mounting the tweeters to the door frame and trimmed the back side of the panel to get them to fit.

cool deal, the SR tweeter is a bit more directional than some...

so it shold get you a higher stage, at the cost of decrease center imagine and perhaps a little separation of sound...

all comes down to personal preference i gueess hehe...thats wh yi like kick mounting in the Z with DLS ultimtes, sound stage is high and centered and with lots of midbass attach overall

dude you know your stuff, thanks for the input. do you run rear fill with your setups? I think the G sounds pretty good front stage only.
