are you talking about being able to see a replica of the ipod screen on your nav screen, but use the ipod as the input interface? Or are you asking if you can use the touchscreen feature of the nav screen for selecting songs too?

and reposting after 4 hours is not reasonable. replies usually take a day (or more). This board isn't haunted during the day as much as it is the evenings. And most people who post (and actually know what they are talking about) only stop in once a day.

I think that would have to be an iPod program/hack to for it to output the video signal with that info on it, I agree that it would be kicka$$ to have it

My buddy's Zune can do that in his Prius and control the menus through the big screen as well. I was most jealous...

The difference is that Zune is designed to export all that data, I'm not sure an IPod can.

I've been wanting to do this for at least a year now. The best solution i found is the DLO home dock. I was thinking i would mount the DLO in the glove box, but instead of docking the ipod, i would use a dock extender cable. Though currently doc exnteders cables can not play videos, at least from what i've found. i would also need to find an IR extender/repeater for the remote control since it is not RF.

I was really close to doing this, but then i found out that the remote can only access the audio menus and not the video menu. You can play the videos, but you would need to use the ipod instead of the remote control, and you would have to have the ipod docked as well. Grrrrr

From what i hear, accessing the video menu via the remote control is not yet possible with any 3rd party applications. ipod needs to release an update that gives 3rd party companies the ability to do this.

I cant believe that ipod hasnt created a car kit that would give us the ability to navigate our ipod from a monitor. And if they did, they probably still wouldnt give us the ability to play videos since its would be considered "unsafe."

I'm going to give up on this project for now. If i do it, i want it to look good, not cheezy!

Good luck!
