How big is the double din cutout?

First off - don't tell me "two DIN, duh!"....

I'm wondering how big the G35 double din opening is in terms of inches wide and high. I'm curious as to whether a touchscreen could fit in that spot...

Also, I should have said that I know that double DIN is supposed to be 7" by 4", but some people have reported a gap between the DIN openings, so I'm really wondering if that is significant...

Its two DINS with enough space for the "trim" pieces that usually come with head units. I believe the gap is about 5mm.
