new drop in subbox idea....need your feedbackand input :)

hey guys, i am in the middle of thinking about a drop in sub box design for the 350z and G35 Coupe thats not currently available. One that iwll be manufactuered with a partner so its precise and well made

taht is, a box that replaces the plastic floor poices in the spare tire well area, on either side.

I have yet to determine what kind of driver best serives the space but anything form dual 6.5" subss to one or two 8" or a single 10, all may work...
also, it will come with a built in grill to protect the sub.

basically, the idea here is to get bass into the car without sacrificing any room in the trunk, spare, or behidnt he seat area...and it will be a direct replacement drop in , pop the old plastic pieces out, pop this one in, put he carpet back over, and done...

any thoughts would be welcome

i am thinking the pricing will be kept to below 350 bucks loaded even with the speakers...as low as possible gonna be offering htem with Elemetnal design speakres for the most part or unloaded as well if you have another sub in mind

anyway, its just a thought for now, so any feedback will help me shape my decision in the future

b

How about a false floor that will hold subs from 10' to 12'. I am getting my box from a friend that had his two 12 JL Audio 12W6V2 flushed in the trunk. I will take pics after the install to give you an idea. Also are you trying to do the setup like the Z enclosure boxes? If so I would say make the boxes with a little more airspace. I had one for my w3's and the bass just didn't hit right. It's a good idea though that you are offering it with and without subs.

so this would require removal/relocation of the stock amp and jack/tools? I think its a good idea, but isn't practical for most people, requires to much fab work, and you won't really gain any extra space because you lose an area to install the amp, so that will have to be moved into the trunk area anyways. Its probably better as a custom job done for someone who wants exactly what you are provide, otherwise, alot of people will shy away from this type of install because of the amount of relocation required. Not only is there the amps in the trunks and assocaited wiring, but also the bluetooth box on 06+ and a few wiring harnesses that will cut down on airspace. The bolts that protude on the amp side will also have to be cut off, which some may not be willing to do. This is just my opinion based on my own personal install and the areas I see that may be of concern

I'd be interested; currently have the 4080 box, which is great, but if I can reclaim that small section of the trunk for use, it would be even better

JL has a stealthbox like this already. Of course, I'd hope yours would be cheaper

Well, no ****, huh. I missed that somewhere. Anyways, here's their webpage

Looks like it would not be what I am looking for; 10W1v2-4, only handles 150 watts. My 500/1 would blow it up!

I guess the 4080 with the 10W6v2 is staying in my trunk.
