It is possible to bypass without the TR-7. I personally don't know how, but my boy did it in his Mazda. He has the wire (no switch) he touches to the cig lighter metal and he does the brake dance and presto he bypasses the vid block.

 

Yes it is possible without the TR-7 but not by just grounding the parking brake input. The Alpine needs to see +12v on the foot brake input and +12v on the parking brake input.

The little dance you would do without the TR-7 is apply the foot brake and parking brake, release the parking brake while holding down the foot brake then pull it up again after that then release the foot brake.

So this is essentially +12v on the foot brake and parking brake inputs, float the parking brake input while still applying +12v to the foot brake input, then apply +12v to the parking brake input again. Then float the parking brake input.

This is what your buddy is doing with the cigarette lighter and foot brake.

Hmmm sound a lil biut simpler than trying to install this TR-7. Wel I guess I'll find out soon. My HU is out for delivery as I type. I'm getting nervous... lol.

 

How many models are there? On lthe listing for the one I got called it the ALP, but it also says it the newer oner called JACK. my packaging and module even say SWI-JACK

 

Again, what does the switch do?

 

Either the SWI-ALP or SWI-JACK will work. It says on the website that the SWI-JACK is the updated version of the SWI-ALP that work with JVC, Alpine, Clarion, and Kenwood.

Got the system in nice and flush with the TR-7 working perfectly. Got too late to do the steering wheel controls so that'll come later.

No this does not play video from the iPod

 

I only had 2 holes to use in the braket that let it sit flush. It really wasn't hard to do. Only thing is when puttin it back in you have to push all the wires down to give it room in the back.
