05 Sedan Rear Deck Woofer
05 Sedan Rear Deck Woofer
Has anyone removed the rear deck Woofer in a Sedan and replaced it with an aftermarket Sub? I was wondering if there was an aftermarket one that would fit and work a little better than the Stock one.
I think you're better off getting a separate sub enclosure. The excessive rattling that will occur with any quality sub dropped into the factory rear shelf will probably drive you nuts.

This really sucks ! It would be so sweet to have a kick azz 8" dropped in there, but it seems there are a few factors going against it. For one the above mentioned rattle, the money spent on Dynamat would probably tripple the price of the sub. Two a sub with large and heavy magnet would have gravity working against it constantly, Three in an ideal world it would need to be an infinite baffle (free-air) woofer to have a fighting chance, and I had a hard time finding any companys which produce one today. My decision so far is to go with a JL 450/4 (version 2 ), add a 4080, good components up front and disregard the rear doors totally. I listen to all kinds of music but alot of the hip hop I listen to has extreme sub-harmonics. I need suggestions on which channels I should bridge on the amp to feed the sub. 1&2 OR 3&4 (I do not want to use two amps). And I would really appreciate any opinions on a good combination of drivers for this set up. Please see the power breakdown of the amp below..Thanks in advance !!
Rated Power Channels 1&2 stereo mode: 150 W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm – 4 ohm (11 – 14.5V)
Rated Power Channels 1&2 bridged mode: 300 W RMS x 1 @ 3 ohm – 8 ohm (11 – 14.5V)
Rated Power Channels 3&4 stereo mode: 75 W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm – 4 ohm (11 – 14.5V)

Hey Gilly, no idea? Like I said I'll be having alot of low end music happening. I play alot of demos so the mix quality of some of the material is "questionable" to say the least. Not to criticize my "starving artist engineers" but they often just throw the bottom way up in the mix and usually try to compensate for poor "attack" on the kick drum by adding way too much low frequency EQ or the level of the Kick is way too loud. I do it myself sometimes. My ultimate goal is to have control over the frequency dynamics but don't necessarily want to add a separate eq. I do want the remote bass control for the JL amp though. I would like to be able to see how both quality and sub-par mixes translate in the car. My priority is inside the car but I kinda need it to bump a little outside so I can see raw street reactions to the tracks. "Any musicians/artists/engineers out there feel me"? So thats my long drawn out story, don't mean to write a book here but my budget is limited and I'm aking for the best of all worlds. Please feel to make suggestions on all speaker combinations. When I say low budget for speakers (sub and front components or coaxials) I mean in the range of $750 to $1000. If all that I am asking for can't relaistically be done for that amount please suggest the setup you have in mind anyway I'd rather wait and get the best I can later than to settle for now just to rip it all out a month from now. Thanks again for any help.
