Hooking up set to rear outputs BOSE

I have been searching the forum because I want to add a sub to my 06 BOSE system. It sounds like what most people do is get a LOC and tie it into the rear outputs from the HU before it gets to the BOSE amp in the trunk... However...doesnt this mean that you lose your rear audio in the car? Am i missing something because if the SUB is using the rear audio then how do the rear speakers in the car get any sound?

most people recommend removing the 6x9 speakers if you get a sub.
