Mike's Mount, Invisicord and G35
Hey guys,
I am planing to get the mike mount, so these are my questions for those who own a mike's mount.
1. Who the hell is Mike and how can i contact him? UserID?
2. Call me newbie, my worry is - is it safe to keep the radar detector in the car? Let's say i park my car in the parking lot, mall or outside of my apartment. By using Mike Mount, my V1 will be quite visible and thus invite people to break my window to get the V1. Am i being over-concern? Do you guys normally leave your radar in your car? With mike's mount, is the radar fix or could it be removed easily from the mount?
Thank guys.

i dont know mike's email off the top of my head... someone else will chime in on that part. great guuy to deal with. mike's mount goes behind your rvm, and u attach the windshield mount (with the suction cups removed) that came with the v1 onto the mount. then you just slide the v1 in.
about leaving it in the car... i personally just take mine down and put it in the glove box or something, especially when i'm parking in a crowded area. $400 equipment, gotta protect it... u don't need unnecessary attention. it's really easy to take the unit down or back up. hope this helps

I have the mount and I love it. I dont remember his userID but i think it starts with Mike his is also on my350z. I have the Escort 8500x50 and it sits pretty stealth looking but yes some people notice it (most cops don't) from outside the car, however it still looks way better than hanging from the window. it almost looks like a part of the rear view. I never disconnect it neither is always there. I dont know how the v1 hooks up, but mine can easily be removed if i ever wanted to.

Mike can be found on my350z.com forums, just search for rearview mirror mount, mike, etc, and you'll find him.
The invisicord connects with the standard RJ-11 telephone type plug, so that's easily disconnectable. And, like the previous poster said, mike's mount uses the stock windshield mount of the escort unit... so taking the detector off is simply a matter of pressing the release button on the top of the detector and pulling it towards you.
That being said, I had my 8500 x50 in my car for almost two years and never took it down. I park in the street and I'm only about two blocks away from neighborhoods I definately wouldn't walk in at night.
I now have my escort 9500i installed the same way, and I do not plan on taking it up/down.
