question:
would the Nuvi 650/660 (i think they are called) fit there better since they are wide screen? i might be wrong though...
I have the OEM Nav in my car, but also have a Garmin C330 @ home. and i hate to say it, but i like the Garmin better, minus the bigger screen on the OEM...

Garmin seems to be (one of) the top leaders in Navigation. This is my fourth partable garmin and if one and two weren't up to par, then three and four would not have been purchased.

Nice job, but seems like an awful lot of work. I accomplished pretty much the same thing, but don't have an extra adapter outlet...my '04 already has 3 of them up front, so don't need a 4th.
Here's what I did, and it only took 15 minutes:
I epoxy'd the metal disc to the back of the front face of the cubby hole. Then I hardwired the unit using a different power adapter than the one that came with the unit. I drilled a 1/4" hole in the back left side of the cubby, and then attached the spliced end of the wire on the end of a thin metal coat hanger & quite easily was able to fish the wire down the hole & came out near the gas pedal (out of the way) and snuck the wires under the steering column and above the fuse box, down into the box. Then I grounded the black wire & stuck the red/hot wire into the fuse slot for my power adapter.

I have a NUVI 660 too and your installation looks great!
Can you please post some pics of the mounting inside the cubby?
Thanks

You cannot fit the Navi unit & the mount inside the cubby (actually have never tried), but you can close the cubby (AFTER removing suction cup from the disc). The disc does not interfere with closing the cubby. Make sense?
