System Teaser Pics
So yesterday the weather was awesome here....finally
, with more to come (Wednesday it's supposed to be in the 70's
) So I decided to finish up my trunk install. I Dynamatted the complete trunk and deck lid. I have completely removed my spare tire and flushed a chambered box into the wheel well for 2 JL Audio 12W6v2's. Sorry for the bad pics (I am not a professional photographer as some of you
) Well tell me what you guys think. Complete build and measurement time was about 4 hours and the install time was about 1 hour.

The box without the subs weiged about 35lbs. I used 1/2 and 3/4 MDF board for the build. The subs is where you will really notice the difference in weight. though. The W6V2 weighs about 15lbs!

Only 1/2"? 3/4" is recommended for anything over 8", especially for 2 subs. You are going to get substantial flexing out of the MDF

what kinda skill set is required to construct a box and dampen your car like that? it seems like a very professional job. can this be a DIY or be left to a professional installer?
doesn't take much skill at all, just a couple of tools and some time. At the minumum, you need a tablesaw, jigsaw, and a cordless drill. Then make sure you take your measurements twice, and then just test fit everything before glueing
