I want to upgrade but have no clue, please help!

As the topic says, I am interested in upgrading the premium stereo in the coupe but I have no clue about car stereos. I've been reading the posts but I think it needs to be dumbed down a bit for me

Here's what I am thinking of doing:

1) Changing the head unit to either the Pioneer or Alpine video screen, the one that slides out of the deck. If I just wanted to change decks, what is involved other then changing to a double DIN dash? Can I use the Infiniti amp for now? Can I use the speakers? Is it just a matter of taking the speaker wires from the factory deck and pluging them into the new deck?

2) My friend has 2 amps and 2 subs for sale. I dont know the specifics except they are about 7 years old and made by Rockford. They are not mono subs as he had 1 amp driving the 2 subs before and the other amp running his speakers. Anyway, if I just wanted to add a sub or two, what needs to be done and what are my options? Would I be better off buying a new amp and sub or can I use his old stuff for now?

I am on a budget too so I cant drop 10k on a new system but I can get pieces at a time.

And again, I dont know very much about car stereos but I am trying to learn

Thanks in advance,

You can change the HU using an aftermarket wiring harness adapter and you can still use the stock amps and speakers. You might be better off buying a new sub and amp, since decent equipment is fairly inexpensive these days. 7 years is a lot of use for subs. They might be OK, but I'd rather have new stuff.
