JL Audio 500/1 Amp possibly burned out?

I recently removed my sub and 4080 box out of my car due to the sub blowing. What I forgot to do was cover up the negative and positive speaker wire from the amp to sub. Today I was grabbing something from the trunk and discovered that the 2 wires fused together and it is slightly blacked on the wires because of them being burned out together. I also touched the amp and it was SUPER HOT. Now what im wondering is if I possibly damaged the amp. It's a JL Audio 500/1. After I wrapped the wires up in electrical tape, i turned on the ignition and the amp still shows a green light like it's on. Does anyone know if it should still be okay? Thanks

should be ok, the amp will just go into protection mode and shut down, after the short was removed everything should be back to normal.
