This is my first DYI, so don't flame me too bad.
First , I manage a retail electronics store in Atlanta and have seen my car installers do this install on tons of vehicles so thats where got my idea from.
That being said I am not a trained car audio technician. Install at your own risk.
Step 1. Items needed . 9500I, DWSC (Direct Wire Smart Cord)wire crimpers, wire strippers, wire ties, wire connectors, basic phillips head screwdriver, non scratching tool to tuck wire(antenna install tool) and Velcro.
Step 2. Locate and pull off fuse panel located on the left side of drivers foot well.
I did not want to splice into my electrical system so wrapped a small amount of the power around my 15 amp electrical fuse. The fuse is in-line with my cigarette lighter. This allows the unit to turn off with the ignition. Ground the ground wire to the bolt/ screw that is used for your hood release.
Step 3. I had a hardwired radar before so I tapped into the existing wire. Thats why you see the yellow and red wire. I ran the wire under the steering column so I can wire my mute switch. If you don't have a mute switch skip to step 4. Pull panel off under steering column and remove phillips head screw on the right side of the panel. Route wires under column. Then mount mute switch with Velcro.
Step 4. Find a place on windshield you want the radar detector to be mounted to and start tucking the power wire for the radar detector their.
Tuck wire from radar detector to fuse panel.
Step 5. Bundle access wire with wire ties under dash. Put it all back together.
This is a very basic install and you can do this with basically any radar detector.
See pics below.

My review of the 9500I
Once you get it installed hardwired or with supplied cord the unit fires up effortlessly. It will receive the gps signal within 15 seconds with a voice alert. It has cool features like auto display dimming and auto audio alert. The auto audio alert will adjust the volume of the alert depending on the ambient noise in the vehicle.
Falsing is at a minimum and will alert you in a voice what radar/laser it is sensing. Also when you are zapped it gives you your real speed (tracked by gps) so not more slamming on the brakes. I found out that my spedo is off by 5 to 7 mph due to my 20'' wheel upgrade
In my opinion the coolest feature is the Speed Trap Marker. At the press of a button you can mark speed traps. When you are within 5000ft of the speed trap it will give you a countdown in feet until you get their. When you arrive within 1000 feet it tells you " Speed Trap Ahead". This is all done audibly. Being a dealer,I have played with SR7, 8500X50, and Solo2. In my opinion the 9500I kicks the crap out of anything I have seen out on the market.
