Rattle from top of car!
Rattle from top of car!
Hey guys I've been having a lot of problems with rattles in my car when the sub hits hard. The place of the rattle is on the ceiling of the car right behind the sunroof section. The rattle is horrible. Basically when the bass hits, it will rattle. So what I do is I would use my hand and push up on that section while the bass is hitting and the rattle sound will go away. This results in nice crisp clean bass pounding. Does anyone else have this problem and how would I go about fixing it? I thought about taking apart the top but I wasn't sure how to and I didn't want to damage anything! But man is it annoying!

if you have a sunroof... i have the same problem... but i think its the motor or housing in there that it rattles.. thinking about tightening things up in there to see what will happen.. other than that i dont think it will ever end..
i got a rattle from there too .. try tapping the very back of the headliner .. thats where mine is coming from .. ive yet to fix it .. i just turn up the music louder
I had a rattle in there last year which drove me crazy. I took it to the dealer multiple times. I told them it was NOT the rubber of the sunroof liner, which they kept insisting it was. I told them something was loose in the roof, and they had to take down the headliner to check it out.
I eventually got frustrated and told them it was a SAFETY ISSUE because if i pushed upwards on the sunroof glass while driving, the rattle would go away, and I am not happy with LOOSE GLASS ABOVE MY HEAD!!!
Finally, they took down the entire headliner, found a loose nut on the sunroof assembly, tightened it. No rattles since.

I have been having alot of issues as well. I have found 2 main rattles. The first is the actual plastic slider handle hitting the top. The only fix for this is to not open the sunroof all the way and to move the slider forward enough that it doesn't touch anything.
The second rattles is in the front of the sunroof. It is that metal "bar" that moves when the sunroof is opened/closed. When the sunroof is open, it moves up so there is no issues. When the sunroof is closed, it vibrates against the car creating a horrible rattle. I am thinking of getting some foam tape and lining the "bar" with it.

hmmm i guess i should test it with the sunroof open and stuff.. but my main ratting seems to be in the middle section behind the sunroof. Like the area between the sunroof and the rear glass. So i'm not sure if its from the sunroof or not. I thought about removing the headliner but just looking at it i can tell its not going to be an easy thing to do...
Just rip down the headliner...its about an hours work. Atleast you will learn something new maybe...? You can also clean all the dust and dirt off the roof from driving with the sunroof open...
