Kenwood DNX7100

Does any have one of these installed in their car? I'm pretty much debating between this and a Pioneer Avic Z2. I just can't find anything bad on the Kenwood, other then name recognition. I know alot of people have the Pioneer but it just seems so pricey compared to the Kenwood. The Kenwood is a few hundred cheaper and has a Garmin Nav built in. I've read the Pioneers TeleAtlas based gps is not as accurate as it should be. To anyone that has the Pioneer, is this true?

One reason I like the Pioneer is the 30G that come with it.

I think the 30g HD is trivial...well, 10g of actual MP3 space. It sounds like a perk when comparing this feature against other units but it’s basically obsolete when utilizing an Ipod.

took out my older eclipse DD...and replaced it with this unit! i lvoe it!!! it looks great, sounds a ton better then my old unit...well worth it..i got mine for $1200 out the door...not that bad of a price, they wanted 2 sell me the z2 for 2000...f that...for 30gb of space?? rather buy an ipod and hook it up...im good with this and no regrets..

just think 2k for a radio??? unless you got it real good then get it, if not the kenwood is a great radio for price..

I have the 7100 in my car, i love it. It has great sound quality and a great interface. I personally like it better than the pioneer ones.

man i forgot about this thread. ive had mine in for a few months now. i love it. there could be some minor improvements, but for the overall package and price its def worth it. doesnt seem to be as loud as my stock bose though, and bass is def not as deep. i tried tweaking the settings but still not much difference. maybe im doing something wrong. but regardless i wouldnt trade it for anything.

Can you guys pics of this installed? For me I'm coming from the Kenwood KVT-910 DVD complete with the 5.1 DSP 901 unit and the Navi addon. I googled the features of that system and compared it to the Pioneer D3, Z1, Z2 etc and sound wise, don't really see any improvement. S/N ratio on my Kenwood is 101+db on 4.5 volt preout vs the pioneer's s/n ratio being a 97 db on 2.2 volt preout. That really makes a difference on the quality of sound coming out your speakers. When I read that I was like WTF because I love the look of those systems.

Maybe I should hear the new Pioneers in person, other than looks and the navi, I didn't really see any improvement over my current setup. I'm on the fence right now. Kenwood makes some great headunits and my 910's kicking strong after these years.

For me the question comes down to, is the DNX 7100 the real upgrade over my KVT-910? Mine was the best out back in 03...I do want to upgrade to double din for the factory look vs my flip out screen unit but the real question is which one is the true successor if that makes sense

sorry for bringing this thread back, but for the 7100 owners. Does the unit lag when you have a mp3 cd playing. Some units are laggy while going to the next song and such.
