ALARM

i had the viper191 alarm system/remote start installed on my g35cmt... it was fine for a week.. then i realized that my driver side doesn't lock... the alarm would activate but the door remained unlocked... now, the factory alarm remote won't lock or unlock the driver's side.. it's fine on the passenger's side... has anybody else encountered this problem??? i also noticed that the control for the driver's side-mirror does not work... what do u think is causing this? could it be a fuse?? i took it back to the shop where i had the alarm installed and they told me to take it to the dealer... they claimed that it was a factory defect... the only thing that sucks is that there's no infiniti dealer here in the valley.. i'm gonna have to drive to san antonio, or houston....

i would really appreciate any kind of input u guys can give me.. thanx...

Re: ALARM

I'm going to piggy-back off your problem:

've had a similar prob with my CodeAlarm system. When I press the lock button, it sends two signals: 1. disarm the alarm, 2. unlock the doors.

Now, if I've used the remote start, and i go to unlock it while it's running, it'll give me the "beep beep" and disarm the alarm... but not unlock the door.

If I've let the car sit a few hours and go to unlock it while NOT using the autostarted, the alarm just goes off. It's as if it unlocks the doors, but doesn't diarm the alarm. I'm thinking wiring problem... but I'm stumped.

Thoughts??

Re: ALARM

i'm not sure what the problem is.. i took it back to the shop.. they think it's a factory problem.. coz even the factory remote won't unlock the door.. but the weird thing is that it's only on the driver's door... the passenger door is fine....

Re: ALARM

Now before they claimed that it was a factory defect, did they take a look at the wiring? If not, then they're not very concerned w/ the work they've done. It could possibly be a defect, but at the same time, the door lock motor may have burned out or perhaps, the fust blown because of bad wiring.

You could bring it to the dealership to see what's wrong and if it does turn out to be the wiring problem, Infiniti would not cover it under warranty since this was done by an aftermarket part. You would have to first pay for it and then bring in the documentation to the shop you had your alarm installed and have them reimburse you.

Re: ALARM

Thats sounds like your plan but it might cost you some money at the dealer. Hope the shop pays for all your costs.

Re: ALARM

Well of course it's going to cost some money! It's the dealership.........that's why you'd bring the receipts and diagnostics over to the shop that did the alarm and have them reimburse you.

Re: ALARM

thanx for the input.. they did check the wiring.... and they said it was fine... the weird thing is sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....

so i guess it can't be a fuse, coz sometimes it works, right? well... i'm taking it to the dealer's in the morning... so hopefully....

thanx again guys..
