Audio System

I have a 04 G35 M6, I assume there is a bose amp, where is it located. Keeping the factory head, what is the best way/simplest way to wire a Rockford in (it has high level inputs). Adding a sub with factory everything else should shound pretty good. Q:the deck probably does not have rca. Q: for simplicity could a person just use the rear speakers wo the high level inputs?
I have a Punch 500, Punch 200? (50rms*4) and a Soundstream Rubicon (also 50*4) considering 8 to 12" w6v2 or w7 (JL's)
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Cheers and happy new year.

Re: Audio System

Did a little digging, as most of you prolly know, the amp is in the rear of the trunk left of the spare. It appears upon first glance that all of the speakers are powered then from the rear. In theory one could add two amps to power the fronts, rears and subs with little more than a heavier power supply without removing the deck to even peek. The factory speaker leads look sufficient (I'm sure 50rms wil sound the same via 12 gauge or 8) So, wire in two amps, add a sub, presto = sweet sound.

Re: Audio System

You are going to replace the Bose speakers, too, right?

Re: Audio System

I don't plan to, I think I will run more power to the factory speakers and see how they sound, I expect they will sound pretty good. Maybe add a high end set of crossovers I have laying around.

Re: Audio System

Bose speakers, and bose amps run at funny "different, un-normal" impedances... so your amp might not drive them properly.

Check impedance before you install, might hurt the speakers, or the amp can overheat or bust depending on its saftey mechanisms...

Re: Audio System

If they are the typical 1-ohm speakers that Bose usually uses, an aftermarket amp won't hurt the speakers, but the speakers will quickly overheat the amp and cause it to go into thermal protection (shut down), if it is a typical amp (most are only 2-ohm stable). Aftermarket speakers are recommeded.

Re: Audio System

I will keep an eye on that, but I dont think they can be that low in inpedience. I hooked the front and rear up in paralel configugation, bridged the 3& 4th channels of a Soundstream Rubicon and ran the 6*9's in series, added a 2nd amp and a 12 inch JL 12w6 off a Rockford fosgate punch 500 runing in paralell. The system sounds great, it has tons of bass, and is very clean and punchy. I toned the highs down one, flat bass and use the front rear to faded the subs vs mid and highs. I like it alot

Re: Audio System

Bose speakers really are 1 ohm. Soundstream Reference and Rubicon amps are 1/2-ohm stable, so it should be OK. You are running the Punch 500 below its ohm load stability level, but if you don't drive it hard, it should be OK. But be aware that Soundstream and RF amps tend to run very hot anyway. If they ever cut out, you'll know why.
