Laser Radar has been around for a long time. It's nothing new.
The Valentine can detect it, but it doesn't matter...when you get zapped, you're zapped. There's no time to slow down, because the beam is so precise; it's not like Radar, where you can catch stray reflections of the wave pattern with your radar detector, even when you're not the target.
With Laser, you don't detect the beam unless they're shooting directly at you..and by then it's too late anyways.
