New Lasers ?

I was planning on purchasing a Valentine 1 for myself and i was just talking to my buddy and he said that these wont work anymore because the City/Cops are changing the type of laser they will be using. A cop actually told my friend this so i am not sure if the cop was lying. Has anyone heard of this nonsense ?

I have heard of this as well, but if you think logically how much time and money it would cost to upgrade all that. It would probably take a long time...I have a Whistler that my friend gave me for free and it has saved my *** a bunch of times so far. I think you should be good to and as someone mentioned the Valentine can be upgraded.

Ummm, The article didn't mention anything about radar detectors not being able to sense it, just that the beam diameter is smaller. Also with the heavy price tag of it and the trouble with using it (needing cars standing by to catch the speeders), this probably wont make that big of an impact on speeders. IMHO.

I loved this line - "CHP OFFICER JAY BRAME: I got 102 mph coming your way. Eastbound 210 to the southbound 2. It's a white Infinity, tinted windows. Here we go again."

That's true, if the beam is so wide we should be able to pick it up no problem.

Hmm, and how is this "laser" different than any "laser" cops are using now? Besides, no radar detector is going to save you from the usage of laser. It just doesn't give you enough if any warning until you've been clocked. Your only chances of beating it is a laser jammer/shifter.

Except for the rare case that you might get a piece of the beam when the hit a car in front of you. It's still too late though.

When I get shot with laser it is always too late. There is nothing you can do about it. The only hope you have is if the cop tries to shoot someone in front of you first and you pick it up from that.

yes, unless they're using instant-on method of clocking ppl by pulling the trigger on their radar gun.

Yeah this has been on the streets for a long time now. I know in DC VA area they use radars only and this might be new to them but rest of the country has been on LASER/LIDAR for some time now.

And yes Laser Jammers save you from this but make sure you get a good one. Blinder has one of the best units on the market right now for a decent price. IF you purchase a Valentine1 and think it will save you from a laser then you are fooling yourself.

Here in GA cops use laser 95% of the time so we are used to it
