Sound quality??

For you audio guys that know, I drive a Sedan 03 with a Bose system, the only thing that was changed a few years ago was the front components.

I saw a good deal on some Polks and was wondering if I swapped out my
infinity 6000cs front components to Polk Momo MMC6500 components.
Everything I read about the Polks seem to be good, so was wondering if
my sound quality would be much better, I do not want to add amp, hu etc..

Thanks
GBoy

I'm in the process of adding the MOMO series now but I am also adding amps so sound quality would def be different than w/o amp.

Personally I feel that any SQ increase you think you hear or think you will get by simply swapping components while keeping the stock bose amp in place will be purely imagined.

the stock amp is not strong enough to push the new components correctly...if you are going to take the time to swap out the speakers change the crappy amp

I would try it and see. You might be surprised at how much better the new speakers sound. Back when I was an installer we did many bose cars with just speaker swaps and they do sound better. IMO the G's bose system is one of the worst sounding bose systems I have ever heard. I tried both and the non-bose sounds so much better, just less bass.

Ok, I have a 2 channel AMP

I have a 2 channel Infinity AMP, would I be able to drive those
front door components with that and let the sub and back
doors be driven by the Bose baby amp..

If you are truly interested in SQ then you can find much better speakers for the money IMO.

I agree with everyone else, definitely swap out the stock amp first. I thought I read somewhere that the Bose amp add's all types of processing to the signal post head unit.

Yes, I think all component sets come with a passive crossover.

.............................................. Tweeter
Amp output -> Crossover input -<
.............................................. Midbass

Currently I only use the rear speakers powered off the BLose when someone in the back seat is complaining. I have my CDT components setup as above. You may also want to look into some sound deadning when you change your speakers.

Amp?

So I could use my Infinity 2 channel amp to drive the front door
components and leave the Blose amp to drive the rear doors
and sub, does this male sense...

When I swapped out my OEM fronts to some Boston Pro6.5 components, it made a big difference. But that's comparing to OEM. You are changing out some Infinity's so the difference will probably be less noticeable depending on how good those Infinity's are.

I thought bottom of the line Infifnity to top of the line Polks would be a big difference, just not sure...

Your speaker models and brands are not the limiting factor. In fact, those bottom of the line Infinity speakers are probably not even creating the quality of sound they are capable of producing... because the source that is driving them is garbage (the amp). USUALLY when you say that the source of a system is garbage you are referring to the headunit. In our case, the Bose headunit is moderately decent at creating a clean, flat signal. What our problem is, as was previously mentioned, the Bose amp adds terrible equalization into the flat signal coming from the HU. With crappy paper Bose speakers designed for playing this garbage installed, it can trick the average owner into believing they have a nice system. To a discerning audiophile, you quickly become unimpressed.

Replacing the speakers while leaving the Bose amp in place is not going to gain you better SQ, no matter what speakers you put in. The terrible equalization graphs that the Bose amp generates have not changed one bit when you change the speakers. Your expensive speakers might give you a higher sensitivity and a louder sound, but in the end they are outputting more expensive crap.

Use the money you would spend on the new Momos and buy another amp to run the subs and maybe the rear speakers - meaning the side panel speakers. Don't bother with the 6x9's because those are the Bose so called "subwoofers." Many people don't even use rear speakers and like that. My rear speakers are faded way down compared to the front. If you have to use the rear speakers, you could run them - not the 6x9's - off of the Bose amp and use your existing 2 channel amp for the front Infinitys and your new sub amp for the sub(s).
