Passenger door WON'T UNLOCK with remote/switch

Has this happened to anyone? My passenger side door will not unlock by the remote, or even the button inside the car (it does sometime, but most of the time it doesn't). When I press the button, the little lock **** on the door itself looks like it's trying to move, but can't. I'm able to unlock it manually by just opening the door from the inside.

1) Anyone had this problem and know what is most likely the cause?
2) I'm out of warranty--how much $$ are we talking about to fix it?

Thanks!

It sounds like your door lock solenoid has gone bad. This is somewhat common. I'm not sure how much they cost to replace.

i had the same issue its the door lock actuator. you will need to remove the inner door liner, take off the window shield, remove the window, remove the rails, take off the door handle and replace the lock. i believe the piece was in the 100-150$ range from chad@riverside..talk wiht tony or jason over there and im sure they can hook you up with a great price.

weird... it was actually working fine yesterday.

if it is the solenoid or actuator, would it be doing this?... looking like its trying to unlock, but sometimes not working, but then other times working like normal?

The same thing happend to me, (I mean sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't) but thankfully the car still is under warranty. Just scary to think of the times it didn't work and I walked away with that door unlocked.

im not under warranty anymore... do you mind telling me what the dealer did, and if the dealer told you what was wrong specifically, and what they had to do to fix it?? thanks!

They told me that actuator (sp?) was bad and they had to replace it. He said it was a fairly common problem on 03 & 04 cars along with the window motors dying (which happened to me about a year ago). I look at my invoice and there were no part cost listed on there, so I can't help you out with that. I had the dealer fix the door lock and get an oil change and the car was done in 3 hours, but I waited till right before they closed in the evening cause I had fun driving the 07 around.

Just did my '03s driver's side a few months back. Cost was ~$220 or so for the unit. On the '03-'04 the actuator, solenoid, and lock mechanism are all on the same unit. . .it was an easy fix.
