?Anyone paint a Sat radio antenna?
I have XM sat with a Terk XM3 antenna on the trunk lid because I got bad reception with an inside antenna due to metallic tint. Has anyone painted a sat antenna to match body color? I have a Desert Platinum and would like to paint to black antenna to match better. Would the Nissan touchup paint I have be too metallic for this purpose? Does anyone know of a good nonmetallic paint that would hold up to the weather?

Hmm. I've never seen anybody paint an antenna, but that's a good idea. I just wonder if the paint will decrease reception. Maybe try contacting Terk and see what they say about painting them. Maybe they already have some info on it.

I'm going to paint mine this weekend. I'm not totally thrilled with XM, but my SO loves the comedy stations, so I'll keep it active for now. Hate the "Big Black Blob" on my roof, so am painting it BS to match my G35s 6MT. If it looks good, I'll post pics...

So does anyone know of any line of paints that's NON-METALLIC and will do well with the weather. Then I have to find a color in one of those lines that's similar to the Desert Platinum.

You can paint them even with metallic
You can paint the antennas with metallic. We www.colormatchantenna.com
use a paint manufacturer that doesn't use actual metallic flakes, which is more common than you may think. Some antennas are easier to paint than others. Their is one rubber round antenna that Infiniti likes to use and that one we really cannot paint because it is too flexible. Even with a specialized process that hardens the rubber the paint will have a tendency to flake off. With a painted antenna your car will show others that you care for the clean lines of the car. Our antennas have shown no difference in signal strength even when painted with metallic colors. The problem can be when the painting process is not done properly. The paint does not need to be thick. Check out the gallery for a brief overview of the painting process.

paintedantenna-I just stuck my XM Micro outside on my trunk because my reception inside was so-so (and this is with huper optik no less!
) Anyways, how tough is it to take the cover off the XM Micro antenna? Does it come off easily? Also, would you consider a discount for g35 driver people on it?

Xm Micro Antenna
The XMicro Antenna is very easy to take the cap off. We actually offer a service to switch the caps on that particular model. Anyway all you have to do is lift the antenna up and temporarily take off the sticker on the back. Use a small philips head screwdriver to remove the cap. Paint it and it goes back on easily. Just don't paint the wires. People do that and it may look good for a short period but the paint will flake off eventually.
As far as running a special for G35 drivers or members of this forum we will run a special for the first five orders we get from this site. Just call the number on the site and we will help you out just to get the word out on this forum. $10 off. The price cannot go lower than that. The amount of labor and supplies that goes into each antenna is much more considerable than people realize, which is why most body shops will charge anywhere from $65-$120 for the same service.
So our special is for the first five antennas we paint for members of this forum, at a $35 rate for the painting service. We would love for those five customers to post their review of our service on this forum.
