i have an '04 X with navi and sat. i bought the usa spec kit for my car, and tried the install today. we unplugged the sat cable behind the headunit, and plugged in the usa spec cable. according to plan, when the SAT button on the front was pressed, it should've recognized the ipod adapter. instead, it said NO SAT, meaning it still thinks the SAT is hooked up, just not found. does this kit not work with sat-equipped cars? i don't need the sat radio so i was going to replace it with the ipod kit, but the car refused to find the ipod.. just said NO SAT.

anybody have any ideas or workarounds to help get this show on the road?


(just to add, i did not plug the ipod into the usa spec kit at anytime during this attempt. i just plugged the usa spec to the back of the headunit. could it have said NO SAT because of this; because the ipod wasn't actually plugged in? or should it have at least found the kit and said something other than NO SAT regardless of the ipod being plugged in or not?)

 

try pushing the cd button, on mine (05 and possibly different) it cycles between cd and cd chg, cd chg being the ipod. It should come up without the ipod hooked up

 

do you also have sat? if so, what happens when you press sat?

if i recall correctly, we did press the disc button while the usa spec was plugged in, and it DID cycle through cd and cd change? but when we pressed the sat button, it said NO SAT? does this all mean that it was working the whole time, and it works through the disc button, not the sat?

 

most likely man, the usa spec is made to interface with the cd changer input

 

it cycles from cd to cd/chnger. when in cd/chnger you can play your ipod. it uses dics 6 so make sure you have a cd in slot #6. press cd button to get it to say cd/chnger and your ipod will play.
