Oh no... I can see where this one is going to go already.

With that said I am 100% iPod fan for reasons other than battery life. I believe both are comparable but the Zune doesn't drain as quickly when it is completely off.

Just sort of a personal thing, I have a problem with the way microsoft does business in many cases... zune being one of them. If this is for your vehicle, battery life is probably moot point anyway since a docked connection would likely be charging all the time.

An iPod will have far better aftermarket support and integration options...

have fun

not to flame on but uh... why

if you refer to the larger screen then I'll give you that... otherwise there isn't much else IMO

I honestly wouldn't buy either right now for the simple fact that the current iPod is way way overdue for a revamp, (hasn't been updated since way before Zune was even released) and I have a feeling that after the iPhone thing gets underway, the new iPod will look/function very similar.

I'm waiting for that.

I just got an iPod for my birthday and love it.

That said, The controls on the iPod are terrible. I hate them. I played around with a friends Zune for a while and thought it was awesome. It was easy to manage and fun to use. I like the bigger screen and the way that you scroll through songs and what not.

However, the iPod has a million accesories and most aftermarket head units are set up for the iPod and not the Zune. Apple has a corner on this market right now that Zune can't break. If iPod releases their Gen 6 iPod and it is anything like the iPhone I will be trading in my current iPod for one.

The iPod has got to be one of the most intuitive devices I have ever used.

The click-wheel is a brilliant interface. Simple. You can hand the thing to just about anyone and they can use it.

Totally disagree with ya on usability.

I have an 80gig and my battery typically lasts around 12-13 hours before I have to recharge it. Zune may have some neat features but no where has the aftermarket support that Ipod has. Just about every stereo manufactor (home or car) makes their stereos ipod ready. I love my ipod and can't imagine going back to cds. I have over 600 cds that I used to carry in massive binders that took up a lot of space in the back seat and it was a chore to find the cd I wanted to listen to. Now everything is in the palm of my hand. My only gripe about the ipod is that the music iTunes sells is recorded at 128K and I feel that 192K should be the bench mark as 192K has a much cleaner and natural sound over 128K. I have 9641 songs on my ipod and I have about 18 gigs out of 80 gigs left.
