Modifying stock AC controller to fit DD kit
Ok, so the AC controllers are out of stock pretty much everywhere. Has anybody considered just cutting the PC board and separating the AC controller from the radio? I know there are traces that go across that gap, but could those be for the radio source buttons and lights? I mean it has its own connecting harness and I can't see Nissan designing two completely different circuits for the same purpose. I'm considering doing this if I get no sure reports of it not working. If I mess it up, I'll just bite the bullet and wait for the aftermarket one to be in stock somewhere, and if it works, then I'll save people a lot of money. What do you think?

Here is an image of what I plan to do. Will the AC still function if the AC conroller is not plugged in? I know I won't be able to change anything, but I should be alright for a while if it gets stuck on 72 degrees right?

thanks to bios2k for the image

You got me there on that one bro. I mean it looks like it can be done but the question is what will the cutting do to the lines in the circuit board.

the easiest way to tell is to follow the traces on the heater control plug as far as you can. i would do it, but im not going without a radio and not going to cough up 100 bucks for a circuit board.
Don't do it. You have *no* idea if the circuit on the bottom half is independent of the top half. Even if it works after you cut it (which I sincerely doubt it will work) you may change the behavior of the circuit and it might affect/damage another component that is not so easily replaceable.

i'm EE also. It might work as the two half are independent.
Study atc.pdf (automatic air conditioner). I did and looks like it communicates to the "Display and A/C auto amp." (up by the clock) , the illumination system, and the defogger system. pg ATC-44 (i'm looking at the 05 model yr).
Connector M38 pins 2, 3, 9,10,11,12,7,6,5,8 look important. Follow these traces on the board and make sure the components are on the upper half. Don't mess wih those signals and you should be fine.
Good luck
