Adding satellite radio to a 2003 sedan

What does it take to have a factory looking satellite radio install in a used 2003 model. I plan on buying a used one in a month or so, but finding a good deal on what I want AND satellite radio at the same time is tough around my area. I could go to the dealer probably, but that would probably cost me out the ***.

03 or 03.5? If it's an 03.5, there's the possibility that it's prewired. If so, get the receiver/antenna from Grubbs Infiniti for about $299 or so, and then install it yourself or have it installed for ~$50. If you're NOT prewired, you're going to need to get the wire and have the install done, which adds about $150 or so to the pricetag. Don't get it done at your dealer-- they'll try to charge you a grand for the install and parts. Good luck,

Re: Adding satellite radio to a 2003 sedan

I asked the Infiniti dealership here. They said it would cost $700 to install it! So, I would order the parts and probably have to take it to a local car audio installer. Have you heard any stories about Circuit City or any places like that not being able to install it right? Plus, before I even get started, would the car have to have a "SAT" button on the radio for it to even be possible without a radio swap?

Yes-- you need the SAT button. If you don't, you might consider one of the mobile units. They're not too attractive (IMO), but it'd be easier than swapping it all out.

I had my installed by Ovation Audio in Indy, and they did it for $100, I believe. I got their estimate before taking the car in, so they kicked themselves, as it took them a lot longer than the estimate... but they stuck to the $100.
