JL 300/4 + JL 6.5"

Hello everybody,

I recently acquired a 300/4 JL amp and a pair of 6.5" JL Speakers. I would like to replace the front speakers w/ the JLs. Additionally I would like to replace the BOSE amp w/ the JL amp. Is this possible? How many outputs does the BOSE amp have? To what speakers should I hook up the additional 2 JL outs?

I will not do the install if I have to switch out the stock faceplate. Will this hurt the integrity of the system enough to make the install worthless? Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am also planning on putting in a 10w7 at some point.

Sounds like we have similar plans, but I'm halfway done. Shopping for subs and an amp now

Hi Diamond,

Thanks for the info. To clarify, you only replaced the front speakers correct? What did you do with the other two outputs on the amp? I am sure it sounds great, anything must be an improvement. How much did the Ven 4 converter set you back?

Best, Doug.

I used the other two outputs for the 6x9's. The Ven4 was around $45-$50. Did you only get 6 1/2's, or are those JL components?

I only got JL 6.5" for the front, I am considering keeping the rest of the speakers stock. From my understanding the front speakers have the greatest effect on sound quality.

That is true, in fact many competition vehicles have no rear speakers.

It depends on if you're satisfied w/ the bass output or not. If you are then I would bridge the amp and run it two channel w/ all the power to the JL components. You'll be suprised at how much power a good set of components can take. I'll be powering my Focal components w/ about 300 watts RMS when they're rated at 100 watts RMS.
