jlj 300/2 or 300/4?
jlj 300/2 or 300/4?
what do you guys recommend? i plan on using it to push my boston acoustic pro 6.5 mids and tweets, no rear fill... but maybe get rear speakers later on tho... i'm wondering if the 300/4 can be bridged so that i cant get 150x2? if so, will it be clean a signal as the jl 300/2?
Re: jlj 300/2 or 300/4?
Euro,
JL's website shows that the 300/2 pushes 150 watts by 2 at 1.5 ohms to 4 ohms. That's tons of power, unless you're like bleeding-ears volume levels.
I just put in the Boston Z6's using a Precision Power 300.4, bi-amping them, and they go plenty loud.
You should be fine with the 300/2, non-bridged. (Non-bridged is usually slightly cleaner too.)

Sorry, I didn't answer all your questions.
Again, JL's website says the 300/4 can be bridged, and if you think you'll add rear-fill speakers later, getting the four-channel amp would allow for their easy addition.
I personally didn't put in rear-fill speakers. There's an opinion "out there" that says rear sound muddies the soundstage.

Re: jlj 300/2 or 300/4?
I think I went through the same thought process you're going through--you don't want to under-power the speakers, so the inclination is to buy the bigger amp (which I did, but I bi-amped the speakers, so I'm not getting as much power as I could from the amp, but I'm not pushing it very hard either, which is better from the amp's point of view).
I don't know how much of a price difference there is between the 300/2 and the 300/4, but if it's not much I'd probably get the /4 and bridge it, just for good measure.
I honestly don't think you'll need that much power, but it leaves the door open for four speakers later on.

Re: jlj 300/2 or 300/4?
okay right know i have an alpine 4 channel amp pushing my boston mids and tweets, if i purchase a 300/2 or 300/4 will it be easy to change the amp? all i have to do is reconnect the ground, power, remote, rca and speaker wires into the new amp right? please let me know what to do as i do not want to damage anything by switching my amps...
Re: jlj 300/2 or 300/4?
I'm too chicken to do my own install . . . but . . .I'd disconnect the power at the battery (or remove the fuse at the battery), pull the old amp, connect the new amp, mess with the gain on the new one, and you should be set.
Another of your posts asks about setting the gain. I have both of my amps' gains set below the half-way mark, and I still have tons of volume. I don't think you're going to need to crank up the gain, with the amps you're getting.
