this is called engine noise, and is usually caused by a wiring problem but many things can cause it, it's not good but usually not hard to fix.

did you do the install yourself or go pro?

Sounds like you dont have a clean ground somewhere in your system.
Make sure all of thr Ground connections to your system are metal to metal on good points and not loose..

sometimes if your RCAs are too close to your power wires you can get alternator whine. Sometimes is your RCAs aren't shielded, you'll get whine. Somtimes if you increase the gauge or shorten the ground wires, this can help whine. Having a clean ground to BARE metal is a must. Sometimes, if you distance the power wires and the RCAs will also help.

Did you run the power wires and the RCAs down the same sides of the car? A lot of people, including myself, ran the amp power wires down passenger side of car (since it is most direct line to rubber grommet in the firewall to the battery) and the RCAs down the driver side of the car.

Hope this helps.

i did pretty what everyone else in this forum did, which is tab the rca at the bose amp, and run the power wire down the passenger side of the car. I've just check all the connecttions, and they are all tight and secure, my ground wire is about 3.5 ft, don't think that's long enough to cause problem.

"Sometimes is your RCAs aren't shielded", what did you mean by rca arent' shieled????

He probably meant homemade RCA's...

After market RCA's are sheilded but there is sometimes crappier qualities than others. For example, gold plated or not, etc...I always used MONSTER RCAs and never had a problem. Other than the advice given above, I don't know what else to suggest.

I tried using the factory wires from the HU to the bose amp, but had a persistent noise problem. It was a constant noise (not alternater whine), probably the fuel pump, but could also hear a "tick tick" noise when the left or right signals were activated. I tried several kinds of LOCS, changed ground points, etc. I solved the problem by installing RCA cables down the center of the car, tapped into the back of the HU and the noise problem went away.

airbag warning light????

I would check the wire connection to the airbag above the lower glovebox, it might have come loose when you dropped the glovebox during your install. Did you work on the steering wheel control at all? IF so, I would check the connection to the driver's airbag as well.

In terms of being shielded or not, sorry, I meant to coment on the quality of the RCAs. RadioShack vs. Streetwires ZeroNoise 3 (which I used) = no alternator noise.

hope this helps.....I know what you feel like having to think about taking apart your dash and car apart again.....and again....and again.

keep us posted.

I had the same problem even though my install was professionally done. The installer was stumped but told me it was probably b/c of the bose HU. After another member on this board helped me install my Eclipse HU, the noise went away.

I found out that the noise came from the rear speakers, quite strange,,I disconnected the rear speakers for now, and suprisingly, the sound is still the same, nothing change. I probably will test it later to see if it's the amp's rear channels or the speakers, or maybe the wiring. I actually remove the glove box, and disconnected the passenr airbag harness during the installation. I have a feeling that i have to take it to dealer to reset it
