OEM stereo version???

Heres the deal, I bought a 2004 G35 sedan from a local dealer. The car has 32,000 miles. I noticed when I test drove it you couldnt put CDs in the cd player ... The dealer told me that everything was under warranty and to take it in. So I bought the car and took it to the dealer. They ordered the cd player that went with my vin # but when they took my old one out, it had different brackets than the one the VIN stated was for my car. At this point they just took the number off the original CD player and ordered it. That was installed the next day with the same exact problem, the door would never open to install the cds. You can take a very small flat head screw driver and open the front door and when you try to Load a cd, you will notice that the cd slot is prob 1/8 inch lower than the cd door.... Now Infinity said they will not cover it because the cd player was changed with no record of it in the car history. They want 1670 for the factory stereo and orignial brackets.. I am working with the dealer i bought the car from to pay it, which i think they are planning to..

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a difference in the brackets from say 03, 04 and 05 or what????

thanks for your help in advance..

There is a difference between the 03-04 HU's and the 05-07 HU's. The brackets are probably different too. The parts guy at the dealer should be able to look up the parts by number and tell what belongs where.

Regardless, don't buy a new HU from the dealer if you have to pay for it. Buy a used one in the Marketplace above. ^^ Our OEM HU's are notorious for malfunctioning, so you might spend a lot of money for something that may break within a year.

The correct bracket should cost about $70. For The $1670 the dealer wants, you can install a mice aftermarket HU with DVD and navigation.
