Will iphone work with USA Spec?

Since iphone has ipod feature and uses the same plug as a regular ipod. Can you use iphone's ipod and connect it to USA Spec?

a friend of mine has his connected in his car he said it would work..so i say sure why not..

Doesnt answer your question, but slightly related.

Alpine has sent dealers a statement saying that iPhones will work with iPod ready Alpine headunits if they (iPhone) have their software updated to ver. 1.1.
