Stereo Upgrade
Stereo Upgrade
I have the Bose system on my G35. I was not really satisfied with the sound quality of the system. I guess I am just spoiled since I am comparing this system to my old system, which consisted of three amps and 12 Speakers.
Anyway, I had told myself that I wasn't going to spend money on adding stuff to my G...yeah right! I can't help it. So I decided to keep it simple and just add a JL audio 500/1 amp with a pair of 10w3's using the stock stereo with a hi/lo converter. It sounds much better...I get good tight bass. But I am still not statisfied with the highs. For hip hop and R&B its fine, but for rock and metal it not. I was thinking of adding another amp and changing the speakers, while keep the stock stereo. I have heard contradicting opinion on this method. What do you guys think? Also I have even considered changing the stock stereo...yes I know not very easy...especially since I have the navi.
Any input/comments are appreciated.

Re: Stereo Upgrade
Did you do the install of the amp and subs yourself or did you go to a shop. If you did it yourself how about posting some BKM's on the process.
I can't stand the bose system and want to do something similar to what you're talking about. It would be great to learn from your experience.
Thanks.

Re: Stereo Upgrade
No I didn't do it myself, I had a shop do it.
My advise is to choose a good shop. I don't really like the typical stores like circuit city and best buy. For the most part these places mostly do simple stereo upgrades. A car like the G is not easy to work with, I like to choose places that have done competition cars. Even if you are not planning on doing custom work, its just good to know that these people are skilled professionals, and are not going to bess up your ride.
Competition Soundworks in cerritos, california and Car Audio Plus in Hawthorne, California are good places.

Re: Stereo Upgrade
ive talked to many people about stero systems.. ive heard the same thing over and over.. places like the good guys, frys electronics, circut city, best buy.. these places are not professional stereo installers, they just do the job.. i would highly suggest you go to a real stereo-only store to get your stuff installed..
